A DOWNTOWN TRADITION
SINCE 1974
The Sunnyvale Art & Wine Festival began in 1974 as a simple but powerful idea; bring people together in downtown Sunnyvale to support local merchants, celebrate creativity, and strengthen community connections. Started by the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce, the festival was originally created as a downtown fundraiser during a time when community-driven events played a vital role in drawing visitors to local businesses and revitalizing city centers.
What started as a modest neighborhood gathering has grown into one of Sunnyvale’s most anticipated annual traditions. For nearly five decades, the festival has remained rooted in its original mission while evolving into a large-scale celebration of art, culture, and community pride.
GROWING IMPACT,
LASTING LEGACY.
Over the past 50 years, the Sunnyvale Art & Wine Festival has welcomed millions of visitors to downtown Sunnyvale, generating millions of dollars in economic impact for local businesses, restaurants, hotels, artists, and service providers. Each year, the festival drives significant foot traffic into the downtown core, supporting small businesses and reinforcing Sunnyvale as a vibrant destination for arts and culture.
Beyond its economic benefits, the festival has become a shared civic experience, one that brings together generations of residents, artists, and visitors to celebrate what makes Sunnyvale unique. From its early days to its reimagined modern format under the direction of Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce and local event producer, Megalith, the Sunnyvale Art & Wine Festival continues to honor its roots while looking ahead to the future.
As it celebrates its 50th year, the festival stands as a testament to the power of community, creativity, and local pride, proving that an event built to support downtown can grow into a lasting legacy for an entire city.
